For immediate release
Ellsworth, Maine — This September, the Ellsworth Public Library (EPL) is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month in a big way! Throughout September, an Ellsworth Public Library card offers additional value, granting access to exclusive discounts and free items at 15 businesses in downtown Ellsworth (see full list below). From delicious treats to unique shopping experiences, this September, supporting your local library rewards patrons in a new way. Library cards are free for all residents of Ellsworth and some neighboring towns.
Here is how it works:
Simply show your EPL card at any of the 15 participating businesses to receive discounts or complimentary items. Discover new places, enjoy special deals, and support local businesses – all while taking advantage of everything downtown Ellsworth has to offer.
Those without a library card can visit the circulation desk at the Ellsworth Public Library with a photo ID (such as a driver’s license, passport, state ID, or school ID). If the photo ID does not include a current mailing and physical address, a piece of mail or another official document that shows your current mailing address, along with proof of a physical address needs to be provided. The library also offers individuals the opportunity to start the registration process by using this form: https://bit.ly/epl-library-card-sign-up.

Library Card Sign-Up Month is a nationwide initiative dedicated to highlighting the crucial role of library cards in children’s education. This annual campaign started in 1987 as a response to then Secretary of Education William Bennett, who stated, “Let’s have a campaign … Every child should obtain a library card and use it.”
