The easiest way to place a reserve on an item we have at the library is through Minerva
- Go to the Minerva Catalog.
- Find and click on the title of the item in the catalog.
- Click
- Fill in your name and your library card number (all 14 digits, no spaces), and click Submit.
- Once you see “Your request for — was successful,” you have finished the request. Then just wait to hear from us! We will call, email, or text when the item is ready for you. The item may come from our library or any of the 60+ Minerva libraries in the state. It’s easy and it’s free.
If you don’t find the item you are looking for, you can check MaineCat, which is a comprehensive state-wide catalog. The process is the similar, except you can only place holds on available items.
If you cannot find the item in either catalog, check out our item request page.
Of course you can always call us (207-766-6363), or come in to make a request in person. Please have your library card with you.
To renew an item, log in to your library account in Minerva, call the library (207-667-6363) with your card number, or come in and renew in person (with your library card or photo ID).
Most everything can be renewed once as long as no one else has it on reserve.

How long can I use the computer?
We request your consideration of other patrons waiting for a computer. If you are not in need of a desktop or self-printing, we also have Chromebooks available for 60 minute sessions. You will need to leave a photo ID with us for use of the Chromebook. You may ask a librarian to extend your time. We are happy to do that as long as no one is waiting to use a computer.
Please note: We shut down computers 15 minutes before the library closes for the day. Please finish your work before they shut down.
On one of our desktops in the Large Type section, after you pull up your document or webpage, click the print button. In the print-options dialog, be sure to select the “Circulation Copier” printer. Feel free to specify options such as, pages per print-page, front-back printing and printing the whole document or a range of pages. If you need help during this process, please ask a librarian.
Printing fees are 25 cents per page for black and white (double-sided prints count as 2 pages), and 50 cents per page for color.
Note: if you cannot select “Black and white” under “Color options”, try opening the document in a different browser (Microsoft Edge versus Chrome).
You can email your document or webpage to a librarian who can print it for you. Please ask at the desk for the printing email.
Please be aware that emailing documents with sensitive information is not advised. Feel free to e mail links to documents that are saved to cloud storage services (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, Apple Cloud).
